Sjollema is an artist who divides her time between her studios in the North of the Netherlands, under sea level, and Sweden, at the seaside. Ever since she first encountered, by chance, a wild bottlenose dolphin in 1993, she has been travelling to meet and sometimes swim with free dolphins and whales all over the world.
‘Nothing has spoken more to my imagination than staring into the eye of a cetacean, there is a sense of a very soulful being good willingly looking back at you. In all these years I have seen many people being profoundly moved.
This is the experience we would like to share with you. For anyone who can’t be out there in the oceans (all the time) the amazing technology of VR will bring them home to you! And better still, the dolphins stay in their home, the free oceans of the world!’
The Dolphin Swim Club is from the beginning truly meant as a Co-creation with the cetaceans. September the 5th 2015 we officially started with the project. That same day two bottlenose dolphins showed up in front of the studio in Sweden. Truly miraculous timing, even more so given the fact that dolphins are not at all native to the Baltic Sea! This expertise he brings in to manage the Dolphin Swim Club.
He is married to Marijke Sjollema and has accompanied her on many cetacean adventures.

Along with several mental health care institutes in the Netherlands we developed a VR platform called Vrendle.com. This is the first web based Virtual Reality platform supplying 360 video content that is used for all kinds of therapy (VRET), VRe-learning, training and simulation.
We are passionate about dolphins as well, and would love to show you why. Therefore we are proud to contribute to this goal by using the Vrendle engine for the distribution of The Dolphin Swim Club content and provide a stable platform for the community. The 360 degree video’s will be available online in the highest resolution (streaming or downloadable) and compatible with all VR headsets now and in the future.
